Yamato participated in the Straw Hat Pirates’ most important adventure—not to mention the longest in the series thus far—in his native Wano, even though he didn’t formally join them on Egghead Island. In this tale, Monkey D. Luffy transforms into the fabled Gear 5, a cartoonish form, in order to battle Kaidou of the Beasts and rescue Wano’s citizens from his despotism. This is further highlighted in Chapter 1052, as Kikunojo, who describes herself as a “woman at heart,” bathes with Nami and the other females at a women’s-only bathhouse, while Yamato joins Monkey D. Luffy and the other male Straw Hat Pirates at a men’s bathhouse.
