Under a new rights agreement, the immensely famous One Piece anime series from Toei Animation will be accessible to stream for free in the UK this year, including the first 1085 episodes of the series.
On August 30, the BBC announced that it had obtained the UK rights to webcast the first 1085 episodes of the well-known anime series One Piece. The series will be available for free streaming in English dubbing on BBC iPlayer for any TV license holder with a UK location. This is the first time in the area that the non-4Kids dub has been utilized. East Blue, Alabasta, and Sky Island – Skypiea, the first three One Piece sagas, will debut on September 1st, and all pre-Egghead sagas will follow before the end of 2024.

In a statement from BBC iPlayer and BBC Three’s Fiona Campbell, Controller of Youth Audiences, she said, “It’s a really exciting move to bring the One Piece franchise to UK audiences in the coming months. With its captivating storytelling, rich characters, and global fanbase, One Piece has become a cultural phenomenon and we’re so excited to see how the fanbase will enjoy this huge canon of episodes available in English only on iPlayer.”
One Piece‘s acquisition follows Crunchyroll’s massive drop of the Dragon Ball franchise in the UK and France, which saw Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Super arrive on the platform in both English subbed and dubbed form. Anime Limited will also begin to release Naruto on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK’s history on Sep. 2, 2024; Manga Entertainment (now under Crunchyroll) had previously released the series on DVD.
